Your details, and what happens to them.

Who is responsible

King Electrical SW is run by Lance King, a self-employed electrician (a sole trader) in Taunton, Somerset. I am responsible for the personal information you send me through this website. You can reach me at [email protected] or on 07312 115918.

What the form asks for

When you ask for a quote, the form asks for:

• the kind of job, your first and last name, your phone number, your address and your postcode
• if you choose to give them, a few words about the job

Sending on WhatsApp

If you press Send on WhatsApp, the site opens WhatsApp with your message written out. Nothing is sent until you press send in WhatsApp yourself. From then on WhatsApp carries the message, under WhatsApp's own privacy policy.

Sending by email

If you press Send by email, the site opens your own email app with your message written out to me. Nothing is sent until you press send there yourself. Your email goes from your email provider to my inbox, which is run by Namecheap.

What I do with your details

I use them to reply to you, to price the job, and to do the work. I don't sell them, and I don't pass them to anyone for marketing. I keep them for as long as I need them for those things, and for the records the law asks a business to keep.

The law asks me to say why I'm allowed to use them. Replying and pricing the job is a step you've asked me to take before we agree anything. Doing the work is part of our agreement. Keeping records afterwards is something the law asks of me.

Cookies and tracking

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers.

Two small things are kept in your own browser, and only for as long as the tab is open: what you have typed into the quote form, so it is still there if you go back a page, and a note that the opening animation has already played. Both go when you close the tab.

Other services the site uses

The website is hosted on Cloudflare, which sees the basic details any website sees when it is visited, such as your IP address, to deliver the pages and protect them. The map of the area I cover is drawn from OpenFreeMap, whose servers are asked for map pieces when you scroll to the map.

Some of these services are run from outside the UK, mostly in the US. Where your details leave the UK, they're covered by the safeguards UK data protection law asks for.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the details I hold about you, ask me to correct them, ask me to delete them, or ask me to stop using them. Email me and I'll deal with it within a month. If you're not happy with how I've handled your details, tell me first and I'll put it right if I can. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
